Menu images and descriptions: a clearer presentation on phones

A good menu image shows the product clearly, while a short description helps guests choose. These two elements should complement each other on a phone screen. Applying the same style to all products makes the menu presentation more consistent.
Keep the product as the image’s main focus
Choose a simple background and soft lighting. The food or drink should occupy the main part of the image. Excessive decoration, strong filters and busy backgrounds can make it harder to understand how the product looks. The image you use should match the product you serve.
Keep a consistent framing style
Photograph products in the same category from similar angles and distances. Because a theme may crop the image, do not place important details too close to the edges. After uploading, open the live menu and check how each image appears.
Prepare images before uploading
Crop unnecessary edges and use suitable compression to reduce the file size. Preserve enough quality to keep the product from looking blurry. Follow the format and size requirements shown in the upload field. Keeping a separate copy of the original images makes later updates easier.
Write descriptions that help guests decide
In the first sentence, mention the product’s main ingredients and distinguishing feature. If portion size, volume or options affect the price, state them clearly. For example, distinguish between the small and large sizes of a drink. Only include ingredient and allergen information that the restaurant has confirmed.
Make the final check as a guest
Open the menu on your phone and move between categories. Check that the full product name is readable, the image opens and the price is clear. Also check the logo and cover image: these areas may be displayed at different sizes from product images.
Reviewing a few products after every update helps catch small mistakes before guests see them.
